Manhattan over Brooklyn | March 15, 2008 | 21:46

When I was still in love with Brooklyn, I stood up for her and touted all of her traits that I found worthwhile. When some Manhattanite would besmirch her honor, I'd come back at them with the rancor of someone whose ardent love had been attacked, and I'd cut them down.

Nowadays, I'm one of the first to spout all of Brooklyn's shortcomings to anyone who'll listen. I'm not at all sweet on Manhattan, I've just soured so totally on the Mother Borough.

Still, there has always been one thing about which I've felt Manhattan is superior to Brooklyn: namesake bridges. The Manhattan Bridge is my favorite span in the entire city. I find the Brooklyn Bridge overrated and, frankly, homely. The Manhattan is blue and beautiful, graceful, powerful and tall. I think it may be the one thing about all of New York towards which I still have any positive feelings.

Hence why I chose her as the background for this blog.
